TALISMAN: How Wanted Terror Kingpin Was Blown Up By Own Bomb In Imo

Intro: “It was poetic justice as ‘Talisman’, who has been accused of numerous killings and kidnappings, met his end while transporting an explosive to target security forces.”

In September, the fight against insecurity in Imo state was taken a notch higher when five daredevil kidnappers and terror kingpins were put on the “most wanted” list of security forces in Imo state, with a bounty of ₦5million announced for each of the gunmen.

The five criminals namely, EyePencil, Spare-key, Asari, Talisman and NwaSouth operated from the Ezioha terror camp which harassed and terrorized Umuaka, Ezioha, Amazano, Umunoha, Ifakala, Afara, Orodo, Ogbaku, Irete, and other parts of Njaba, Mbaitoli and several Owerri West Local Government Areas of Imo state.

Following intense bombardment and frequent invasion of the forest at Ezioha, a good number of the fighters in the camp have been neutralized, injured or dislodged while few others are suspected to have fled the forest.

While the criminals continue to make efforts to avert the onslaught of security forces, more of their men are either falling to the superior firepower of the security forces or falling prey to their own IED boobytraps, planted randomly in the forest.

Against that background, impeccable sources have confided in our reporter that on the evening of Thursday, the 17th of October, 2025, Talisman one of the most wanted gunmen with a ₦5million prize on his head, was killed while delivering an Improvised Explosive Device (IED).

Talisman whose real name is Ebuka Ogazi was on transit in a motor bike with a member of the gang who was driving the motorcycle.

They were allegedly on a mission to plant more bombs to ward off the Nigerian security forces who are gradually closing in on them.

While conveying the heavy payload, the bike hit a rough patch of sandy road and the two gunmen fell. The impact of the fall detonated the bombs and the gunmen took a direct hit from the explosive device.

Talisman died on the spot while his other gang member who was riddled by shrapnels died in an undisclosed hospital much later. Talisman was hurriedly buried that night in a shallow grave in the forest while the other hoodlum died later in an undosclosed hospital.

Talisman is from Uba-Umuaka and he has been indicted for many atrocious crimes and killings in the Umuaka axis.

A local source averred that, “Talisman was part of the attack on Njaba Police Division at Umuaka. He and his gang were responsible for numerous kidnappings, enforced disappearances and other terror attacks within Njaba LGA and across the state. He and Asari (Chidi Onwenu) were part of those who planted IEDs around Umuaka recently, leading to many fatalities and deaths of innocent residents including men, women and children.

With this development, there have emerged several indications that the terror camp in Ezioha is in disarray as security forces continue to pound the area with superior firepower and tactical operations.

It is believed that in the days ahead, the fate of the remaining four terror kingpin may be decided as security forces vowem to bring to an end, their reign of terror in Imo state.
