Three police officers injured as IED explodes in Borno

An improvised explosive device (IED) planted by terrorists on the Maiduguri-Damaturu road has injured three police officers on routine patrol.

Citing intelligence sources, Zagazola Makama, the counter-insurgency publication focused on the Lake Chad region, reports that the incident occurred at about 3pm on Tuesday, near Garin Kuturu village, between Auno and Jakana in Borno state.

The sources said the IED exploded when officers of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) stepped on it, wrecking their patrol vehicle and leaving a three-feet deep and five-feet wide crater in its wake.

Makama said the bomb disposal (EOD-CBRN) team was deployed to secure the area and thoroughly search for secondary explosives.

The publication added that the injured officers were taken to the Borno state Specialist Hospital where they received medical attention before being discharged.

GUNMEN KILL SIX CHILDREN IN KOGI

Suspected gunmen have reportedly killed six children in the Ogbe forest area of Kogi state.

Zagazola Makama reports that the attack occurred on Sunday.

The publication added that the unidentified victims were tending to their cattle when the assailants invaded the camp, fired gunshots, and killed them all in an instant.

“The relatives of the victims reported the incident to the police on March 11, 2025,” the source said.

“Police operatives visited the scene and took photographs of the decomposed corpses, while a preliminary investigation has commenced.”
