Woman stabs husband to death in Abia community

A woman identified as Innocent Serah has allegedly stabbed her husband, Innocent Nwaọjị, to death in Umuokereke Ngwa, Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia State.

The incident, which occurred on Saturday night, has thrown residents of the community into shock.

Although the circumstances surrounding the alleged stabbing and what may have led to the incident remain unclear, it was gathered that Nwaọjị was allegedly stabbed while he was asleep.

A community member, David Amaraizu, confirmed the incident in a telephone conversation with journalists on Sunday.

He said the development had shocked residents of the community.

According to Amaraizu, the couple who got married in December 2025 had been married for barely eight months before the incident.

He said, “We are not aware of any disagreement between the couple before the incident. The woman had been arrested and is currently in police custody, while the deceased’s body had been deposited at a morgue.”

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Maureen Chinaka, said, “I will get back to you.”

However, her official response was still being awaited as of the time of filing this report.

Similarly, in February 2026, the Abia State Police Command confirmed the arrest of a woman in Umuahia, the state capital, for stabbing her husband, an Immigration officer, to death over an allegation of infidelity.

According to the state Commissioner of Police, Danladi Isa, “the suspect was promptly arrested and is being interrogated at the State CID for a case of murder.”
