....27 gunmen neutralized
..,…Operatives clear Ubahaezike, Edenta, Amadim, Ezeogwu, others
Following the renewed onslaught on bandits and violent criminals in Orsu LGA, no fewer than 27 gunmen were killed last weekend, as Nigerian security forces raided strongholds of bandits and cleared out besieged communities in Orsu LGA of Imo state, Nigeria.
At the notorious ‘Produce’ Camp, a fierce fire fight between security operatives and bandits led to the decimation of the hoodlums and burning down of the dreaded camp, no fewer than 200 human skulls, bones from other body parts and decaying remains of victims of the barbarism that had prevailed in the area for about three years, were discovered in the camp.
The security forces recorded a major operational success as they overran and crushed the dreaded ‘Produce’ Camp inhabited by bloodthirsty killers who engage in terrorism, assassination, ritual killings, kidnapping and according to informed sources, they also engage in the harvesting and trafficking of human organs.
‘Produce’ is a popular area where lorries previously loaded farm produce and other products from the local market and transported them to the cities for sales. It was a thriving local industry until the hoodlums seized control of the area unleashing terror and death.
These bandits had ‘governed’ the area for a greater part of three years. They regulated traffic to the area by blocking off the boundary line between Awo-Idemili(Imo state) and Isseke(Anambra State) with a burnt trailer which they had hijacked from a driver who had unknowingly come to the area to deliver cement. They stole the trailer load of cement, killed the driver and burnt the trailer.
The discoveries at the ‘Produce’ Camp was so horrifying that while it was christened “the field of bones”, some security operatives described it as a “Slaughter Camp”.
Before they were routed, the bandits had the run of the communities within the vicinity of the ‘Produce’ Camp. They occupied private mansions and other buildings abandoned by their owners who had fled the community for their safety
The ‘Produce’ area stretches through three communities – Ubahaezike, Edenta both in Orsu LGA of Imo state, and all the way to Isseke in Ihiala LGA of Anambra State.
The dusty ‘Produce’ road had been awarded and re-awarded to contractors for tarring but these bandits had always threatened and chased the construction companies away from the area.
Fortunately for the locals, most of these criminals were cut down last week as crack security operatives stormed their bush camps; burning the bushes, smoking the criminals out of their hiding places and detonating any hidden IEDs with the heat of the burning bushes.
A local source told *CrimeFacts*: “It was a massive slaughter of the criminals. There was hardly anywhere to hide as the security forces relentlessly hit them on every side. I heard there was a shootout but from the outcome, the “unknown gunmen” or “Umuoma”, as they are called, did not have a fighting chance.”
The rampaging security operatives swept through all the communities around the area, day after day eliminating every security threat and taking captive of any terror suspect.
The operatives effectively cleared Ubahaezike, Edenta, Amadim, Ezeogwu and other communities.
As at the time of writing this report, hundreds of heavy logs of timber used to barricade the roads and block free access to the communities were being dismantled and removed by the security forces.
The surviving gunmen our reporter gathered from reliable sources, fled into the bushes in neighbouring Isseke community in Anambra state.
On the social media, jubilant commentaries from Orsu indigenes and good-spirited Nigerians, have continued to trail the successful dislodgement of the hoodlums and the ongoing clearance operation in the affected communities.
