Two Nigerians arrested in India over drug trafficking

Two Nigerians have been arrested by police in India over alleged involvement in drug trafficking.

According to The Times of India on Friday, the suspects were apprehended in South Delhi’s Maidan Garhi following a targeted police operation.

Police authorities said the arrests were made after “specific intelligence” was received on April 27, indicating that two men would arrive in the area to supply narcotics.

Acting on the tip-off, officers laid an ambush and intercepted the suspects around 10:30 p.m. while they were riding a scooter.

According to the police, “During the search, police recovered 102 grams of cocaine — classified as a commercial quantity — along with 13 grams of MDMA and 85 grams of methaqualone, which falls under the intermediate quantity category.”

The suspects were identified as “26-year-old Chijioke Wisdom, said to be a resident of Lagos, and 43-year-old Chiqozie from Owerri in Imo State.”

Police said both men were residing in India without valid visas and added that “a case under relevant sections of the NDPS Act has been registered,” while investigations are ongoing to trace the supply network and possible accomplices
