CD asks EFCC to reinvestigate Obiano

.……Says He Must Account For His Wasted 8 Years in office

The Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC), has been told to beam its fresh searchlight on the former Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano’s eight years reign.

Executive Director, Human Rights, Liberty Access and Peace Defenders Foundation and Chairman, Campaign for Democracy, South East, Dede Uzor, A Uzor, in a statement in Awka said the former Governor must be made to account for the “the wasted eight years he held sway as the Anambra State Governor.

He expressed disappointment that for eight years Obiano could not do anything in the state that would have direct impact on the people , lamenting that he left the state under abject poverty.

Dede Uzor said Obiano’s legacies were glorified airport, stadium, all white elephant projects that don’t have direct bearing on the people of the State.

He said even Local Government Chairmen during his administration should be probed as most of them became so corrupt that they siphoned the allocations made for the development of their Local Governments.

Under Obiano, said Dede Uzor, touts took over Anambra State, there was no single good road in the state, including his community Aguleri.

Until his successor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo awarded Niger Street leading to
Onitsba Main Market, Obiano did not consider its strategic economic importance, including all the bad roads in Fegge, Onitsha.

Dede Uzor urged Soludo to avoid his predeccessor’s pitfalls but should remain focused and adopt rendering monthly account of the state revenue generation.

The activitist urged Governor Soludo to hasten the ongoing road construction especially the Niger Street to Main Market, Ziks Avenue, Poryharcourt Road, Mbonu Ojike street, Miss Elems, Creeks Road, Bida road Silas Works road all in fegge and equally engage youth to reduce high crime rate in the state, Dede Uzor advised
24th October 2023.
