Five cultists nabbed for possession of Human skulls in Cross Rivers



Five suspected cultists have been
arrested with human skulls in Ogoja
Local Government Area of Cross River
State.

They were arrested and paraded at the
Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps NSCDC.

Speaking during a press conference in
Calabar on Friday, the State
Commandant of NSCDC, Danjuma Elisha,
said the suspects were arrested in the
wake of a raid carried out on a
compound in Ogoja.

“This is a case of suspected cultism,
ritualists in Ogoja Local Government
Area. They were found with all the items
they used in their activities.

“We raided the place because it is a
compound. Eventually, four of them
were found to be the people involved. So
we are targeting them this time for the
public to see,” he said.

Reacting to a question surrounding the
command’s response in tackling the
menace of cultism in the state, Elisha
said the NSCDC, police and other
security agencies were doing their best
in view of the prevailing realities.

He further stated that the government
has taken bold steps by demolishing
houses suspected to be linked to cult
groups, adding that security agencies
have been supporting efforts of the
government.

He said the suspects will be handed over
to the police for further investigation and
prosecution.
