The former Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Delta State, Mr. Dafe Jude Akpedeye SAN, is dead

This is contained in a statement signed by the NBA Effurun Branch Chairman, Jonathan Ekperusi, Esq., made available to TheNigeriaLawyer (TNL).

“Dear Colleagues, it is with very heavy hearts we announce the death of Dafe Jude Akpedeye, OFR, SAN, FCIArb., former Attorney-General & Commissioner for Justice, Delta State.

“He was a pioneer member and a prominent Leader of NBA Effurun Branch. He was a Harvard and Unilag alumnus. He served the NBA in many capacities both at the National and Branch levels. We will greatly miss him. May his noble soul rest in peace.” the statement reads

Until his death, Mr. Dafe Akpedeye, SAN, was the Managing Partner of Compos Mentis Chambers. The learned silk had over 35 years of legal practice experience under his belt, from Litigation, Arbitration, Mediation to a record-breaking performance in Oil, Gas and Energy Law.

Among other prestigious positions held, he had served as the Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice, Delta State, Nigeria (2007 -2009). He was an Accredited Tutor of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (2000 -2020), and a Senior Law Lecturer, Delta State University, Nigeria (1997 – 2020).

He was recognised by the Federal Republic of Nigeria, with the national honour of Officer of the Order of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (OFR) in 2014.
