Police arrest notorious bandits’ kingpin in Zamfara

The Zamfara State Police Command has arrested a well-known bandits’ kingpin, Muhammadu Kan Kani, also called Akki, aged 57, from Kuraje village in Bungudu Local Government Area.
Security analyst Zagazola Makama shared the news in a post on X on Sunday, saying the suspect was arrested on September 17 after credible intelligence led operatives to his location.

According to Makama, officers from the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, supported by their counterparts in Katsina State, intercepted Kan Kani while he was travelling from Kano to Yankara in Katsina State.

“The suspect reportedly confessed to being part of the gangs terrorising communities in Tsafe, Yandoto, and Yanwaren Daji.,” Makama wrote.

He also admitted membership in the Kachalla Dan Goggo gang, which has been attacking areas like Damba, Mareri, and Saminaka in Gusau Local Government Area.

Police said Kan Kani is under investigation and will face charges in court once inquiries are complete.
