Scores killed as Boko Haram attacks Adamawa communities

Boko Haram terrorists have killed six people in attacks on the Banga and Larh communities in Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa State.

The attacks, which occurred on Tuesday, targeted both civilians and security personnel.

According to local sources, two men were killed in Banga, while a woman was also fatally attacked. Two additional fatalities were recorded in the nearby Larh community.

A vigilante lost his life when an improvised explosive device (IED) detonated while he was attempting to secure the area.

In a separate incident, a police patrol van from Garaha stationed in Banga was destroyed by a bomb. Fortunately, no officers were harmed, as they had exited the vehicle shortly before the explosion.

Confirming the incident, the Chairman of Hong Local Government Area, Hon. Usman Wa’aganda, stated that one person remains missing, and several houses and properties were destroyed by the insurgents.

The attack adds to growing concerns about a resurgence of Boko Haram activities in neighbouring Borno State.

Just recently, Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum warned of the group’s re-emergence and called for stronger security measures to combat the threat.

Efforts to reach the spokesman of the 23 Army Brigade, A. S. Adewunmu, were unsuccessful, as calls and messages were not returned at the time of filing this report.
