Background
A few days ago, VeryDarkMan (VDM) stated that ₦180 million had been stolen following a hacking incident targeting his NGO’s website.
In a video posted on his X handle on Friday, VDM revealed that the funds had been diverted to an unidentified account.
“I’ve not been myself these past few days. Somebody hacked into the NGO website, and ₦180 million is missing,” he said.
According to VDM, authorities have made progress in the investigation, with one suspect already in custody.
“The account is now on Post No Debit (PND). There’s ₦20 million left, while ₦160 million was diverted. We’re heading to Jos to recover the money,” he added.
To safeguard against further breaches, the NGO’s app has been temporarily shut down for maintenance. VDM assured supporters that updates would be provided on the recovery efforts.
The Martins Vincent Osei Initiative, launched by VDM in October, raised over ₦30 million in donations within hours.
Prominent music executive Michael Collins Ajereh, known as Don Jazzy, contributed ₦100 million to the cause, making him one of the initiative’s major donors.
