1 IMSU management suspends lecturer who slapped female student

Dr Desmond Izunwanne, a lecturer who slapped and assaulted a female student of Imo State University, IMSU, has been suspended.
It was gathered that the female student identified as Ukamaka from the department of Medical Laboratory, received multiple slaps from her lecturer after she attended lectures on wrong outfit.

The incident, according to a video posted by Instablog9ja, occurred at a lecture hall of the Imo state University (IMSU) on Friday last week.

A Source who preferred anonymity said Dr. Desmond Izunwanne, the lecturer is from the department Physiology in the faculty of Basic Medicine but teaches Medical Laboratory students.

Another source said that the lecturer has gotten used to abuse students on regular basis.

On this incident, it was gathered that one of the students in the lecture hall used a spy camera to record the moment when the lecturer was pressing the lady to respond on why she came to lecture in mufti and not her laboratory jacket. He slapped her at least thrice before the recording ended.

According to reports, the student was feeling unwell and had explained to Dr Izunwanne that she had visited the hospital just before arriving for his class.

Dr Izunwanne ignored her explanation and proceeded to slap her multiple times asking her, “what’s your reason for coming to class late?”. He further also asked her why she was on mufti and told her to continue to kneel. It is reported that the affected student was actually pregnant.

Eyewitnesses said that this isn’t the first time Dr Izunwanne has engaged in such a barbarous action.

Confirming to our correspondent on Tuesday evening, Dr Ralf Njoku, IMSU spokesperson said the lecturer has been suspended.

Njoku added that a three-man committee has been set up to investigate matter properly and sanction the lecturer appropriately.

When our correspondent asked if the victim will be protected against gang ups by other lecturers over the issue, Njoku assured that the current Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Uchefula Chukwuma, SAN, will not sweep the matter under the carpet.

“There are rules of engagement between the students and lecturers. So there’s nothing like gang ups in this institutions.

“We will sanitize this university so that it will be a place where students can learn comfortably, “IMSU PRO said.

Speaking with the victim, Ukamaka said that the issue has been resolved.

Ukamaka added that she has been instructed not to speak to the media on the matter.

2 After Crimefacts.news report, Imo CP directs orderly room trial on officers who assaulted two youths with cutlass

Hours after Crimefacts.news reported how some policemen assaulted two youths with cutlass in Owerri, the Imo State commissioner of police, Mohammed Barde has directed an orderly room trial on the erring officers.

The command’s spokesperson in the State, Henry Okoye who spoke to our reporter on Friday evening said the incident happened at Uratta, in Owerri Imo State on Thursday.

Okoye claimed the two assaulted youths were suspects arrested in an identified hard drug black-spot, unlawfully in possession of weeds suspected to be Cannabis Sativa and ‘Crystal Meth’ hard drugs.

He said, “Upon diligent observation of this viral obscene video, the officers were identified to be a detachment of one of the Command’s Tactical teams comprising of six (6) Police Officers led by Inspector Sunday Amadi who unfortunately was seen in the video assaulting the suspects with a cutlass.

“They have been defaulted for Discreditable/Unprofessional Conduct, Improper Dressing, Incivility to and Assaulting the duo suspects; who were arrested in an identified hard drug black-spot, unlawfully in possession of weeds suspected to be Indian Hemp and ‘Crystal Meth’ hard drug. I.e. methamphetamine aka ‘Mpuru Mmiri’, with a ‘Cutlass’ which is not one of Police accoutrement while trying to apprehend them.

Speaking further, “While investigation continues, The Commissioner of Police, CP Mohammed Ahmed Barde PSC(+) , who is a disciplinarian and defender of fundamental human right has ordered that prompt Orderly Room Trial should commence against the erring officers and that necessary disciplinary actions be taken if found guilty.

“Members of the public are advised to remain calm as further development on the orderly room trial and disciplinary actions will be communicated back to them.

Crimefacts news had reported how some policemen in Imo State assaulted two youths with cutlass for refusing them access to their phones.

The incident is coming about two days after the police arraigned an officer who allegedly killed a man in Delta State over his refusal to give N100 bribe.

According to a video that has gone viral on social media, the armed police officers were filmed using a machete to smack two unidentified people in Imo State.

In the 45 seconds clip, five officers are seen assaulting the two people in an open space while a sixth officer pulled out a machete from a parked SUV believed to be a police operational vehicle.

The sixth officer is captured in the video, smacking the two people multiple times with the machete.

“Which kind country be dis?” said a background voice in the video.

“Omo, see as him dey cut-am with cutlass! Which kind nonsense be dis?

“See wetin police dey do for Owerri”.

A Twitter user who posted the video on 20 April on the microblogging site said the victims are students of the Imo State University who refused to allow the officers search their phone.

3 INVESTIGATION: Male Nigerians Running From Benin —- After Beninoise Citizens Defrauded French Millionaire With Fake President’s Video

Many Nigerians in Benin Republic, especially males have been forced to return to Nigeria after the country’s citizens defrauded a French millionaire.

According to Sources, the Beninoise fraudsters duped the french millionaire with a doctored video of President Patrice Talon negotiating to selll Benin Republic Government properties worth millions of dollars to the frenchman.

It was learnt that the french millionaire paid huge undisclosed amount of money into the scammers account thinking he was dealing President Patrice Talon.

Discovering that it was blind deal which have also dragged the image of Benin Republic in the mud, the government ordered the security agencies in the country to burst out all fraudsters syndicate in their hideouts.

It was learnt that female Nigerians in Benin Republic are not targeted for arrest by the security agencies.

According to reports, anyone caught using tools for engaging in fraud or incomplete papers will be sentenced to five years imprisonment in Benin Republic.

Unconfirmed reports have claimed that the Beninoise suspects have been nabbed.

From all indications, majority of male Nigerians living in Benin Republic take Fraud as their main occupation.

It has been gathered that due to poor network coverage and inadequate electricity supply in Nigeria, many youths in Nigeria have migrated to African countries to gain these important amenities.

NIGERIANS IDENTIFIED

When asked a source if the Beninoise security agencies will differentiate between the citizens and Nigerians, he answered that male Nigerians can be easily identified as result of their neat dressing and expensive lifestyles.

NIGERIANS RETURN BY SEA

Crimefacts.newx has learnt that in order not to be captured by the Beninoise security agencies, running Nigerian men take the path of sea to return back.

As af 22 March 2023, Sources narrated that many Nigerian male crowd besieged the River bank in Benin Republic in order to travel by sea.

“The boats traveling to Lagos are becoming hard to found now. It is as of the Benin Republic government gave quit notice male Nigerians to leave the country.

The source said it is safer to travel by sea than the road. “It is very easy to come back to Nigeria by sea, security agencies won’t have to stop and search your papers”.

BENINISE POLICE CONTINUE TO BURST NIGERIAN HOMES

Crimefacts.news gathered that the security agencies in Benin Republic have continued to raid the home of Nigerians living the country especially in the cities of Cotonou and Porto-Novo.

Reports have revealed that to an extent, the security agencies conduct stop and search operations on the sea to identify Nigerians with incomplete papers.
