‘To be continued’ — Trump speaks on Iran war after China trip

US President Donald Trump has hinted that attacks on Iran may resume despite an ongoing ceasefire between both countries.

Trump made the comment on Friday in a lengthy Truth Social post in which he baulked at Chinese leader Xi Jinping’s suggestion that the US is a nation in decline.

Trump linked Xi’s remarks to former President Joe Biden’s administration, contrasting it with the “incredible rise that the United States has displayed to the world” since he took office last year.

The US president said the achievements include “all-time high stock markets and 401K’s, military victory and thriving relationship in Venezuela, the military decimation of Iran (to be continued!) — Strongest military on earth by far, economic powerhouse again, with a record 18 trillion dollars being invested into the United States by others, best U.S. job market in history, with more people working in the United States right now than ever before, ending country destroying DEI, and so many other things that it would be impossible to readily list”.

“In fact, President Xi congratulated me on so many tremendous successes in such a short period of time,” he said, adding that the US is the “hottest Nation” anywhere in the world.

Before Trump left for China, he said ceasefire with Iran was on “massive life support”.

On April 7, Trump announced a two-week ceasefire with Iran. As negotiations continue, Iran has pushed for a total end to the war but the US insists on a conditional ceasefire.

Vice President JD Vance, who is involved in the talks, had said progress is being made but Trump’s latest comments revive concerns on a resumption of the conflict.

Iran is a close ally of China and the war was on the table during talks between Trump and Xi.

According to Trump, China agreed not to sell weapons to Iran even though the Asian country has repeatedly denied supplying the Islamic Republic ammunition.

The US president said he and Xi felt “very similar” about the war and on the topic of not allowing Iran have nuclear weapons.

Xi did not mention the war during his remarks to the press after the summit.
