Wife allegedly slits husband’s throat, damages eye in Niger

 

A housewife, Halima Salisu, a resident of Kuta, the headquarters of Shiroro Local Government Area (LGA) of Niger State, has allegedly slit her husband’s throat, Salisu Suleiman, with a kitchen knife.

Sources told Daily Trust that she also stabbed and damaged the husband’s left eye.
A source who preferred anonymity told the newspaper that the couple had a misunderstanding, and the wife waited until the husband was asleep before attacking him with the knife.

The spokesperson for the Niger State Police Command, SP Wasiu Abiodun, confirmed the incident to Daily Trust.

He said the incident happened on Saturday, November 1, 2025.

“On November 1st at about 2:30 am, one Salisu Suleiman of Kuta allegedly had a misunderstanding with his wife, Halima Salisu, and while the husband was asleep, the wife used a knife and inflicted a deep cut injury on the husband’s neck and also allegedly damaged his left eye,” Abiodun stated.
He added, “The victim was rushed to General Hospital, Kuta, and later referred to IBB Specialist Hospital, Minna, for medical attention.

“However, the suspect is in custody for further investigation and prosecution.”
